A good technology is not enough if its developer does not know who needs it or how to test it. On 7 October 2026, Martin Mycielski of Mitchell Strategic Solutions Group (MSSG) joined Polish Radio for Ukraine to discuss what happens between an idea and its practical use.

The conversation covered cooperation between Western companies and Ukrainian partners: identifying needs, testing products, building relationships with users and communicating with investors. Alongside defence, it addressed medical technologies, reconstruction and critical infrastructure.

We publish the full interview and its main themes below. MSSG News is published by Mitchell Strategic Solutions Group; this article covers our own company's appearance. The conversation is in Polish and Ukrainian, with English subtitles available in the player.

Speed of adaptation, not just a new invention

Mycielski highlighted how quickly Ukrainian technology developers respond to users' needs. What matters is not only what a product can do at a given moment, but also how quickly its developers can gather feedback and improve what does not work.

Speaking directly with users helps establish whether a solution addresses a real problem and under what conditions it will be used. Needs can differ between units and change from week to week. In that environment, a one-off presentation cannot replace cooperation with the eventual user.

What MSSG does between the supplier and the user

Mycielski described MSSG's role as connecting Western technology suppliers with partners in Ukraine. Some companies have a promising product but do not know the local needs, do not know whom to approach, or need a partner who can integrate their solution into a larger system.

That makes relationships, language, cultural understanding and the ability to turn a conversation into concrete action important. Mycielski emphasised the experience of the team's Ukrainian members. The cooperation he described extends beyond defence to medicine, reconstruction and the protection of critical infrastructure.

Testing: needs, partners and procedures

The discussion covered official opportunities for cooperation, including Brave1 and Test in Ukraine, as well as direct relationships with users. Choosing an appropriate option requires understanding the product, its stage of development and what its developers need to learn.

Showing up and being willing to speak with people helps build trust. Mycielski also discussed preparation: transport, border crossings and knowledge of procedures.

Being present and building trust

Personal contact with partners was another important theme. Mycielski argued that visiting in person and being willing to speak with users can make cooperation easier.

Understanding needs on the ground helps developers see the conditions in which a solution will operate. The discussion also covered medical technologies: cooperation with Ukraine is not limited to defence equipment.

The discussion also covered presenting technology to investors. Interview frame, 7 October 2026.

An investor needs to understand what the technology offers

A good engineer is not necessarily equally good at presenting a project to an investor. Mycielski discussed helping companies communicate the value of their technology, prepare presentations and connect start-ups with potential investors.

Checking assumptions was as important as the presentation itself. Does the product solve a real problem? What still needs to be tested? Direct contact with users can provide information needed by both the manufacturer and an investor assessing the project's potential.
