WB and four Canadian partners: training, electro-optics, drone production and STORMRIDER

CAE: preparing users for missions

WB GROUP president Piotr Wojciechowski and CAE vice-president and general manager Thibaut Trancart signed the CAE agreement. The proposed cooperation combines WB unmanned platforms with the Canadian company’s simulation, synthetic training environment and mission-preparation capabilities.

The partners will examine solutions supporting the integration, introduction and operational readiness of autonomous systems. Potential customers include users in Poland, Canada and other allied countries. For a military customer, this addresses the process of bringing equipment into service, including training. The release does not identify a particular simulator or provide a delivery schedule for a training system.

WESCAM: visible-light and infrared sensors

The WESCAM agreement concerns observation systems operating in visible and infrared bands. WB identifies the possible integration of electro-optical turrets with its reconnaissance and strike systems as one direction under consideration, with Polish and Canadian users in mind.

This is cooperation on integrating observation equipment with a platform. The release does not name the turret model, the intended unmanned aircraft, observation performance or the testing status of a combined configuration. It consequently does not establish that a particular WB product has received a new sensor configuration.

Robotics Centre: potential manufacturing in Ottawa

According to WB, Robotics Centre specialises in unmanned aircraft production and recently opened a facility in Ottawa. Its agreement concerns the possibility of using these capabilities to manufacture Polish unmanned systems locally for the Canadian market.

That makes the partnership relevant to a potential WB entry into Canadian industrial supply chains. Local production nevertheless remains a direction being explored. The statement identifies neither the system to be manufactured nor a production volume or agreed division of work between the companies.

Rosborough Boats: platforms for STORMRIDER development

The fourth partner builds boats and, according to WB, has also supplied the Canadian navy. The companies will examine using Canadian platforms for further development of the STORMRIDER surface system and possible deliveries to European and North American markets.

No particular hull, equipment package or customer is identified. The new information is the development partnership and its potential markets, adding to previous STORMRIDER presentations. The agreement itself does not establish that the Canadian armed forces have selected or adopted the system.

Four distinct industrial tasks

Taken together, the agreements concern training, observation equipment, manufacturing capacity and maritime platforms. Their common purpose is to prepare offerings for users on both sides of the Atlantic. For Poland’s defence industry, the next practical indicators will be specific configurations, completed integrations, a division of production responsibilities and orders. The current release leaves those points open.
