Lendurai: why an interceptor and its autonomy software need separate evidence

Ramil Lipp spoke to MSSG at MSPO about Lendurai’s approach to interceptor autonomy. The conversation covered functions performed onboard and the possibility of retaining human confirmation of a target. It was first published in our video on 10 September.

At the time of the interview, combat testing of the displayed interceptor in Ukraine was still ahead. That is the maturity status reported in the conversation. It should not be rewritten as a completed trial merely because the supplier has other experience in Ukraine.

The company’s website separates the Accipiter interceptor from Neocortex, a combination of software, computer and cameras intended for UAV platforms. This product distinction helps explain why company-level experience and platform-level validation are different claims.

Software is not the whole aircraft

Neocortex is described by Lendurai with visual navigation, PX4/MAVLink support and C2 integration. Those descriptions concern the offered software and hardware package. They do not establish the performance of every aircraft into which it could be integrated.

Likewise, an interceptor demonstration does not fully describe the software’s suitability for an unrelated platform. Our interpretation is that the buyer needs an identified version and configuration before it can assess what evidence is relevant to its intended use.
